What it is

The 200-week moving average smooths out roughly four years of prices. Historically bitcoin's deepest falls have ended near it, so it's often used as a long-run reference level.

How it's calculated

Each day: the average of the last 1,400 daily closes (200 weeks × 7 days). The multiple is that day's close divided by the average. The line starts once 1,400 days of data exist.

Limitations

An average of the past always lags. Price has fallen below it before, and it doesn't mark a floor. Using daily rather than weekly closes gives slightly different numbers from other sites.
